bah. i can't form these thoughts into precise words, and it's bothering me. family. community. shane claiborne. nicaragua. all these things swirling together and inspiring me, but i don't have the language to convey them yet. it will be forthcoming.

in the meantime, i offer you my all-time favorite laffy taffy joke.

what's brown and sticky?

[a stick]

don't ask me why i like it so much...just do.

My most memorable (and ridiculous) laffy taffy joke:

What do you call a guy named Mike?

Who wrote that?!

i love when you don't have the language to convey your emotions; i think it means you're really on to something good!

let's see if i can add some thoughts to your swirling emotions.

i think you are dealing with the many states of your being.

family -- your roots.
community -- your present.
shane claiborne -- your idealism.
nicaragua -- your future.

you are in such a state of transition -- physically, emotionally, spiritually, geographically. it is interesting that this transitional phase of your life is being expressed by these touchstones.

you are in the throes of life my love. and i'm glad that it is inspiring rather than scaring you. what a journey, eh?

I don't think I know Paul Englis, but he sounds really wise. He said it better than I ever could.

You're gonna cry, we're gonna cry. But you just have to hug it out. 2 years will come and go and then you'll be back (God willing) longing to be back in Nicaragua.

Transition is just hard.

Oh, and I will write about the ideal Presidency (what I would do) in a creative blog entry just for you.

that joke...I don't know what to think about that...
